Agama/Bullit/Beta takes Buggy & Truggy wins at Cape Town National

Cape Town, proudly hosted the Round 1 of the South African Nationals Championship.

Friday Buggy Practice pace was set by Tiaan Oelofse and Warren van der Merwe, driving their Bullitt 219’s, and Warren driving his Agama FRCup Edition.

Saturday qualifying saw Warren run into some problems with his Agama, in Q1 and Q3 not settings a time at all. And coming back to qualify 3rd,TQ was taken by fellow Bullitt driver Tiaan Oelofse showing outstanding consistency. And CuziRacing’s new team driver, Arno Geldenhuys getting his best ever qualifying result with his newly acquired Agama/Bullitt/Beta Package coming in 5th.

Sunday Amain, With Table Mountain in the backdrop. The track in grippy condition and a slight breeze to keep the heat away. It was going to be an exciting final.

The start saw Warren, Tiaan and Arno Geldenhuys pull away quickly from the pack. From early on, it looked like it would be a 3 way battle. Warren quickly cemented his lead over 2nd and 3rd. He gained a 3 lap lead 40min into the race with problems hampering Tiaan and Arno’s cars. Both Warren and Arno ran into some minor mechanical problems. Warren established a comfortable lead, which meant he could slow his pace enough to bring the car home. Arno Geldenhuys on the other hand, had Tiaan Oelofse catching him quickly, which meant an Agama 1-2 looked more and more unlikely. Having minimal rear drive, Arno was unable to keep Tiaan Behind him and Settled for 3rd a couple of corners before the line.

Even though this meant Agama would not secure the 1-2 finish, it still proved a very good day for Bullitt engines, as the top 3 spots of the podium were all occupied by Bullitt powered cars

In the Truggy class, Quintis van der Merwe was in a league of his own driving his A8T,Bullitt 219 & Beta combo, easily taking TQ and the Win in flawless style.
